In a dramatic turn of events, Tauqeer Nazir, the primary suspect accused of chasing and running over 15-year-old orphan Waseem Abbas in Multan, was killed during a shootout with Punjab's Crime Control Department (CCD) near the Northern Bypass in Bahawalpur.

According to law enforcement authorities, Tauqeer escaped police custody on Tuesday night following his physical remand appearance in court. CCD officers intercepted two suspects riding a motorcycle in Bahawalpur; when signaled to stop, the suspects opened fire on the police team. Officials confirmed that Tauqeer was critically wounded during the exchange of fire and later succumbed to his injuries, while his fleeing accomplice remains the subject of an active police manhunt.
