In a major political turning point, federal authorities have declared a state of emergency rule across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, suspending the provincial government framework and placing law enforcement on high alert.

Police authorities confirmed that over 278 political leaders and activists have been taken into custody, including former KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati. Law enforcement officials stated that the measures were activated to uphold regional security and public order, while civil rights organizations expressed deep concerns over democratic norms and the detention of elected representatives.
